[Prayer] The Beginning of Healing and Calling

A Testimony of a Life Restored and Led by the Power of Prayer

[Prayer] The Beginning of Healing and Calling

Prayer Redirects the Course of Life

In my early twenties, I was preparing for military service when a routine health check revealed that I had tuberculosis. What followed was a long and grueling treatment journey. After three years of care under public health services, I was declared healed. But soon after, I began to suffer from chronic fatigue. Another visit to the hospital brought an even more daunting diagnosis—hepatitis, with signs of early cirrhosis.

I was hospitalized for three months, prescribed strong medications, and even turned to herbal treatments, but the conclusion was always the same: incurable. I felt as though my youth had been swallowed up by despair. The silence of the hospital room echoed with a deeper emptiness inside me—a spiritual void.

Then came an unexpected invitation. A friend’s father, a devout Christian, invited me to a healing prayer service at a mountain prayer retreat. I went with nothing but desperate hope. But in that sanctuary, I encountered the presence of God. Prayer was no longer a ritual; it became the moment when my soul turned fully toward God. A year later, my liver function had returned to normal. Even the doctors were amazed. For over 40 years since, my annual health checkups have shown no sign of disease. That’s when I truly understood—prayer is the lifeline that holds onto life itself.

Prayer Sanctifies Daily Work

After my recovery, I began working in faith-based institutions—both schools and hospitals—managing administration and accounting. My days were filled with numbers: ledgers, audits, nonprofit tax filings, depreciation schedules. But I never approached these tasks without prayer.

I firmly believe that transparent administration builds spiritual integrity. Every financial statement I prepared was first laid before God in prayer. I worked with the conviction that I was establishing God’s order through every small detail. For me, prayer was never an escape from reality—it was a way of sanctifying it.

Prayer Builds Bridges Between Church and Society

Working in church-related institutions taught me that prayer must go beyond private faith. It becomes a bridge—a language of truth that strengthens both church and community. A church that lacks transparency loses its trust. A ministry without order burns out its workers.

Before every team meeting or annual report, I prayed. When conflict arose among staff or leaders, I knelt first. Even during government audits or financial inspections, I found that prayer prepared my inner being to remain steady. Prayer was the force that established peace and integrity in my workplace.

Prayer Transforms Endings Into New Beginnings

Now, standing at the threshold of retirement, I look back not at savings accounts, but at answered prayers. Tears shed in hospital beds, quiet prayers whispered over a desk, intercessions for others in the early dawn—these moments were the richest blessings of my life.

Today, I devote more time to Scripture and prayer, interceding for the marginalized and weary. My enrollment in theological studies is not a pursuit of knowledge alone, but a calling—to live a life that works through prayer and serves through prayer. I desire to know the principles of faith not just intellectually, but deeply in practice.

Prayer Is the Legacy We Must Pass On

If I were to leave anything behind for the next generation, it would not be wealth or property—but knees that have learned to bend in prayer. Skills become outdated, buildings decay, but the fruit of prayer continues across generations.

Prayer connects our weakness to God's power. It takes belief beyond human limitation and lifts it toward eternity. I pray that this testimony becomes a small lamp to those in midlife like me—and to those walking behind us.

[Prayer] The Beginning of Healing and Calling

Prayer is not merely a spiritual routine.

It is the sacred space where God's will meets our reality.

I was healed through prayer.

I served faithfully through prayer.

I endured seasons of challenge through prayer.

Now, in this new chapter, I long to share the fruit of prayer with others. Prayer is the way God chooses to work in and through us. And that invitation—to meet God in prayer—is still open to all, every day, in every place.
